Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation

The heart of Jackie’s charity work lies in The Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation which was founded by Jackie in 1988 to offer scholarships and active help to Hong Kong’s young people through a variety of worthy causes. Over the years, the foundation has broadened its scope to include provision of medical services, aid to victims of natural disaster or illness, and projects where the major beneficiaries are Hong Kong people or organizations. In 1988 Jackie established The Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation to help the youth of Hong Kong. The creation of the foundation was Jackie's way of fulfilling a vow he'd made to a Red Cross volunteer who had given him aid when he was a youngster. When Jackie asked how he could repay the Red Cross, the representative told him to return the favor to someone in need when he was able to. Jackie has been doing that through the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation since 1988. Over the years the JCCF has helped countless youth by providing funding and scholarships for a wide array of causes. In 1997, the foundation bestowed the largest single donation to date which resulted in the construction of the Jackie Chan Gymnasium at Lingnan University in Hong Kong.
